
North Caledonian Football League AGM News – 11.6.26
The Macleod & MacCallum North Caledonian Football League will enter the 2026-27 season with 13 clubs after the management committee approved a major change to the competition’s identity at its annual general meeting.
Formerly known as the North Caledonian Football Association, the competition has officially adopted the North Caledonian Football League name following approval from member clubs.
League officials ratified the change at the meeting, confirming the organisation’s status as a football body within the Scottish FA structure and better reflects the competition’s role within the Scottish football pyramid.
The league will move forward with 13 clubs for the 2026-27 season after new club Dingwall FC were accepted as associate members ahead of their first campaign in senior football.
Bunillidh Thistle will also return after a one-year absence, boosting competition across the division.Lewis & Harris will again participate as guest members in the Football Times Cup (sponsored by Appin Sports), while Orkney confirmed they will compete in the league – but will not enter cup competitions this season.Saturday, August 8 was confirmed as the season start date with clubs set to play 24 league matches across the season and teams participating in three cup competitions, with the league aiming to complete the campaign by April.
Office bearers were also confirmed for the coming season.Niall Harkiss was re-elected as president, with Robert Coull elected vice-president. Sandy Stephen remains secretary, Iain Whitehead assistant secretary and Euain Penny treasurer.
